Most commercial camera systems get bought once and never tested. The failure shows up later: the one angle you needed was covering a wall, the recording overwrote itself four days ago, nobody remembers the password, or the footage is too soft to identify anybody. By then the incident has already happened.
A commercial system is evidence infrastructure. It should be designed backwards from the questions you will actually ask — who came through that door, what happened at the loading bay, who was on site at 2am — and then built so those answers survive long enough to be useful.

Taking over what you already have
Half-finished and abandoned systems are common. Where existing cameras and cabling are sound we reuse them and tell you plainly which parts are worth keeping.
One pole, a whole site
A cluster of bullet and dome cameras with a wireless bridge on a single mast, covering a yard and its approaches from one position. Where trenching cable across a site is impractical, a pole and a link do the job without digging up the lot.
Where commercial systems usually fall downThe four we find most often
- Retention that is shorter than the problem. Damage and shrinkage are often noticed days or weeks later. A system holding four days of footage cannot answer a question raised on day nine.
- Coverage designed around cable convenience. Cameras end up where wire was easy rather than where the risk is. The yard gate and the back door are the classic gaps.
- One shared login. When everyone uses the same account there is no record of who viewed or exported footage, and nothing to revoke when someone leaves.
- Nobody trained. The most common call we get is not a broken camera — it is a business that cannot retrieve its own footage under pressure.
The equipment we work with
We build primarily on Ubiquiti and Hikvision camera and recording hardware, chosen per site rather than by default. Both record locally, both scale from a single storefront to a multi-building site, and neither requires a monthly fee to view your own footage.
Where a different platform genuinely suits you better — because of what you already own, or a requirement we cannot meet — we will say so at the assessment rather than after the invoice.
Interior coverage that reads the corridor
A ceiling dome covering the length of an office corridor and the doors off it, installed alongside the lighting and ceiling speakers on the same job. Doing the ceiling once, with every trade coordinated, is cheaper and tidier than three visits.

Frequently asked questions
How long should a business keep security footage?
Long enough to cover how late a problem is typically noticed. Thirty days is a common commercial baseline because damage, theft and disputes frequently surface weeks after the fact. Retention depends on camera count, resolution and frame rate, so we size the recorder against the number of days you want and tell you what you are actually getting.
Do commercial security cameras need a monthly subscription?
Not with us. Recording is on site and you own both the hardware and the footage, so viewing your own cameras costs nothing per month. Optional off-site backup exists if you want a second copy, and monitored alarm response is a separate certificated service with its own fee — we will tell you when that is worth having.
Do I have to tell people they are being recorded?
In general, yes — Canadian privacy expectations around recording in commercial premises point toward clear notice, cameras aimed at what you genuinely need to protect, and controlled access to the recordings. We install signage and configure per-person accounts as a matter of course. We are not lawyers, so for a policy that must stand up formally, take advice specific to your business.
Can I view several sites in one place?
Yes. Multiple locations can be brought under a single view with individual logins per person, so access can be granted and revoked as staff change and there is a record of who viewed or exported what.
Will cameras keep working through a Saskatchewan winter?
The hardware we put outdoors is rated for the temperature range and installed with that in mind — sealed penetrations, proper cable, and mounting that does not rely on the weather being kind. Cold performance is a selection criterion for us, not an afterthought.
Can you work with the cameras we already have?
Usually. Sound cameras and existing cabling get reused where they are worth keeping, and we tell you honestly which parts are not. Inherited and half-finished systems are a large share of what we are called out to fix.
